Kirkgate Community Centre
We first asked WYCAS to help us in 2007 at which point we had recently become independent. We had no access to any accounting records and no information about the organisation’s running costs, its funding arrangements or its income; and financial monitoring reports were overdue for our funders. Without appropriate action we were likely to run into serious difficulties.
WYCAS helped us to set up QuickBooks so that we could start to monitor our financial situation. They helped us with budgets and cash flow projections to ensure we were in control of our finances and able to make informed decisions about the future of the organisation. They also produced our annual accounts for the previous year to meet our funders’ requirements. These measures greatly assisted us when trying to secure funding for the current year and future funding.
The services that WYCAS offers are so flexible and designed to meet a wide range of needs, supporting organisations in areas that can be difficult to understand. Rather than just completing the work for the organisation they provide training (including accredited training) to paid staff and management committee members that helps to form a solid basis for good financial practice and management.
The service WYCAS offers makes managing finances less intimidating and allows members that don’t necessarily have any financial experience to at least understand the basics. In the case of the training they offer, they actually make it fun to learn. Both structured courses and one to one training in particular areas have been very helpful to our organisation.
WYCAS’ support helped us through a very difficult time and played a significant part in making the organisation what it is today. With their help and guidance we have been able to steer the organisation through uncertain times and are now in a healthy financial position.
