Sugabrown

Suga Brown is a performing arts organisation that has worked in local communities since 2001. The work that we do reaches out to children and young people to help them to overcome barriers and become a positive part of the community around them.  We work as a social enterprise and are slowly moving away from grant funding to work more commercially and become self-sustaining via contracts and commissioned projects.

After a meeting with Alison Wolfenden, early in 2004, it was obvious that we needed a financial system that would work for us and help us to become more efficient.  Alison helped us to set up Quick Books and has been an invaluable help ever since, particularly in delivering staff training and preparing our end of year accounts.  We have delivered several funded projects over the years and preparing accurate accounts for our funders, whilst remaining transparent can often be a daunting task. Alison has helped us to set up systems which help us to accurately record our expenditure on these individual projects, which in turn has enabled us to present professional reports.

I feel that WYCAS carries out excellent work for organisations like Suga Brown with both training and support where and when it is needed. The work is affordable, professional and approachable. The impact of their work has meant that we can manage our accounts in a systematic way, making life a lot easier when juggling a very busy social enterprise.
