Debbie Crosbie, Group Chief Operating Officer at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and Chair of the Yorkshire and Clydesdale Bank Foundation, said: “Yorkshire Bank’s Spirit of the Community Awards aim to recognise and support the vital contribution that voluntary and charitable projects make to their local communities. This is our opportunity to say thank you to the incredible community groups across England for the inspiring work they undertake.”
There were some 300 applications and we were one of 15 winners across three different categories relating to finance, employability and environment. WYCAS entered the “Helping people have a healthy relationship with money” category. Our success gives us £5,000 to take our popular DIY Accounts workshop concept outside Leeds. It would also allow us to extend the range of our funded one to one training and support as well as telephone advice, with a particular focus in Calderdale where our current funding is limited.
We collected our award at a special event hosted by the Foundation in Leeds on 26 June. A big thank you to Yorkshire and Clydesdale Foundation Bank for their trust and confidence in our charity!
