Working for WYCAS
Helping charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises is hugely rewarding. If you are interested in finding out how your accountancy skills could be used to make a real difference, see below to find out what our team say about working for WYCAS.
WYCAS is a great place to work, our colleagues are supportive, we’re trusted to manage our workloads and the training opportunities are excellent. As well as generous holiday leave flexible and hybrid working, WYCAS staff benefit from Bupa health insurance and last but not least, fun staff socials.
There is no typical day! Always lots of variety, but usually includes accounts work, tax computations, independent examinations, using accounting software, talking to clients and team members to help resolve queries and updating our database.
The biggest area of development has been around communication of concepts or technical knowledge to those who are new to accounting and finance. Sometimes the concepts or techniques can be quite tricky with no simple or quick solutions. Helping our clients get to a level of understanding which is relevant or appropriate for them is one of the most enjoyable parts of the job.
I enjoy the fact that that WYCAS has huge potential to deliver for the charitable sector, and we have a fabulous team to make that happen.
WYCAS staff work well together and support each other. We communicate effectively and learn from each other on a regular basis. Being part of the WYCAS staff team is a great experience.
I started as a Trainee Accountant with no charity background and not much accountancy experience in general. Learning from experienced senior staff and through training has enabled me to develop my skills and increase my knowledge.
